We just wanted to send a quick heads up to let you know that a test of our provincial emergency alert system will take place TODAY at 1:55pm!
In addition to the alert being broadcast on radio and TV stations, it will also be pushed to all compatible mobile phones. The mobile phone alert can be alarming. It cannot be silenced and will sound loudly on your phone even if it is set to “Do Not Disturb”. You cannot opt out of the alert.
The test takes place as part of Emergency Preparedness Week in BC. Please take this opportunity to make sure that you and your family are prepared in case of an emergency by taking three steps:
- Know your hazards.
- Prepare an emergency kit and grab-and-go-bag for your family.
- Have a household plan in case of emergency.
