Big White Mountain

Big White Mountain is home to Big White Ski Resort, ranked in the top 3 ski resorts in BC.  The ski hill has been Canadian owned and family operated since 1963.  It is a year round resort with snow sports and events in the Winter and public hiking, festivals and mountain biking in the Summer.  Proximity to Kelowna International Airport makes it a popular destination internationally, as well as a venue for international events.  There are many world class accommodations and restaurants to choose from. 

The mountain is also home to a growing population of year round residents.  Proximity to Kelowna and increasing community infrastructure on the mountain make it attractive to young families, professionals and retirees.  Community activities centre around Big White Community School and several organizations that support community engagement and social activities, including Big White Mountain Community Development Association, Mountain Medical Society, Big White Mountain Chamber and Big White Community Policing.  We are a small community who collaborate on social and community development projects.

Big White Fire Department is very active in community activities, in addition to their formal protective services roles.  Their Work Experience Program (WEP) well serves both young career oriented firefighters and the community.  The program has been in place for 22 years.  It attracts a cohort of youth from across Canada every year.  A high percentage of graduates go on to career positions across Canada.  Additionally, the youth actively volunteer for community events during their stay.
