A Harmony of History and Natural Beauty
The village of Midway is located on Highway 3 (Crowsnest) near the U.S. border, straddling the Kettle River. With plenty of trails, parks, and the nearby Kettle Valley Golf Club, there is a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities for visitors and residents including the popular Kettle Valley Rail Trail, which is part of the Trans Canada Trail. Historically Midway was Mile 0 of the Kettle Valley Railroad, and the original station now houses the Kettle River Museum, which showcases the history of the Boundary area. You can even overnight at the 100+ year old railway bunkhouse.
Midway is a service centre for surrounding rural areas, with a high school that serves the West Boundary, a supermarket, hardware store, post office, library, a museum, insurance outlets, cardlock gas, medical centre, public health centre, pharmacy, seniors centre, seniors housing, RCMP detachment, Ambulance Station, Fire Department, an ice arena, a curling club, a waterpark, village run campground, community hall, river walk, community trails and a border crossing.
