WILDFIRE SEASON NOT OVER IN THE REGIONAL DISTRICT OF KOOTENAY BOUNDARY
-EVERYONE URGED TO STAY VIGILANT
The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) emergency operations centre has responded to two wildfires that required tactical evacuations in the last 7 days.
The RDKB reminds everyone that wildfire season is not over yet.
“The fire danger is moderate to high in the Boundary,” says Mark Stephens, EOC Director. “Weather models are showing above-seasonal temperatures with lower-than-normal precipitation in the coming weeks.”
Residents are urged to exercise caution and be vigilant. Prepare a grab and go kit (https://emergency.rdkb.com/Be-Prepared) and sign up for the RDKB’s Emergency Alerting System – Voyent Alert – on the RDKB’s emergency website https://emergency.rdkb.com/
When an emergency occurs, the RDKB will keep everyone updated through its website at emergency.rdkb.com, and its social media channels on Facebook (Meta), Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter).
The RDKB thanks the public for their cooperation during the last two wildfires and reminds residents to follow all orders from First Responders should another event occur.
