Title: Manager – Food Hub.

Job Type: Contract – Full Time, one-year renewable contract

Minimum Education and Experience:  

Bachelor’s degree, 5 years in a leadership position, technical understanding and experience in the Food Industry, food processing and food systems.  non-profit and social enterprise experience

Job Location(s):  

The ideal candidate will reside within the Boundary area of the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary and will be required to work from their ‘home’ office. Travel will be required through the area from Big White to Christina Lake and more regularly cover Rock Creek, Greenwood, Grand Forks.

Job Description: 

This position is a member of senior management in the new Boundary Community Ventures Assn.  The Food Hub is a new project and is in its development phase.  The Food Hub Manager will establish operating systems and policies, contract staff, support the Food Hub Advisory Committee and oversee purchasing, set up, promotion and oversight of the programs offered.  As well, the Food Hub Manager will ensure that all contractual obligations are met.  The Food Hub Manager will provide input to the Board of Directors of the Boundary Community Ventures Assn to ensure orderly development of the social enterprise on a trajectory to financial self-sufficiency.  

Activities:

Design, promotion, implementation, contracting, oversight, and evaluation of the Boundary Food Hub’s policies, procedures, and business plan; coordination of Food Hub agreements/contracting, licensing, regulatory needs, and leasing and oversight of facilities and equipment.

Support for food processors for training, business planning, marketing, distribution and financing small scale food processor’s business start-up.
