Job Opportunities: Rock Creek & Boundary Fair Association is hiring 4 positions

The 4 positions are: General Maintenance Person, Grounds & Lawn Maintenance Person, Campground Host and Vendor Coordinator & Office Assistance Person. All are described below:

GENERAL MAINTENANCE PERSON 

The Rock Creek & Boundary Fair Association is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person who  enjoys working outdoors to join its team on a seasonal basis. The successful applicant would be  responsible for assisting with the care and maintenance of the Association’s buildings including minor  carpentry and painting and assisting with the maintenance of the Association’s equipment (tractors,  groomers, lawn mowers, etc.), assisting with grounds and lawn maintenance including weeding, some custodial & garbage duties and is also expected to assist with set up/tear down for special events.  

This position is part of the Canada Summer Jobs Initiative and applicants must be eligible under the  requirements to apply for this position. This is a sixteen-week posting; however, employment will  continue beyond that to the end of September. Start date is May 5, 2025, and end date is  September 26, 2025 (flexible start and end date) with 30-35 hours per week at $21.00 per hour.  Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of employment, must be a  Canadian Citizen or permanent resident and have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled  to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.  

Job Requirements: Valid BC Driver’s License preferred, criminal record check, physical stamina, able to  work outdoors, effective communication and listening skills and be able to follow instructions from  supervisors, experience with lawn and farm equipment, comfortable with hand and power tools, be  willing to do some labour-intensive jobs and have reliable transportation. Must be available to assist on  Work Bee weekend September 6th & 7th as well as through Fair weekend. Previous experience in building  trades and/or mechanical background is an asset.

CAMPGROUND HOST 

for the Blaine Memorial Campground (Rock Creek Fairgrounds) 

The Rock Creek & Boundary Fair Association is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person who  enjoys working outdoors to be our Campground Host throughout the summer from June 26th to  September 1st, 2025. This is a part-time paid position for one person, but a couple may live on site, and it  offers many live-on-site benefits, plus earn extra income!  

BENEFITS WE OFFER: 

Free campsite at our beautiful campground on the river, water hook up, 30-amp or 50-amp power, free  showers in our facilities, limited sewer (pump out not hook up) and WIFI. Park host must provide their  own RV unit and maintain a clean campsite.  

DUTIES INCLUDE: 

Attendant hours are 4-5 hours per day and 5 days per week (Thursday afternoon to Monday morning) at  a rate of $22.00 per hour. Host is required to maintain campsites, including minor lawn care &  maintenance, weeding and irrigation, opening and closing of gates during hours of operation, the  maintenance, stocking, cleaning & sanitization of out houses and washroom/shower facilities, garbage  collection. Will be required to use online computer booking software (tablet provided) to review daily  check-ins & check-outs, assist with drop in guests, collect fees, provide campground safety and guest liaison. 

This is a seasonal position therefore we cannot accept requests for holidays off, however you will have  two weekdays off and will have time off during our private rental events. Host must be offsite from July  28th – August 5th, 2025.

VENDOR COORDINATOR & OFFICE ASSISTANT PERSON 

The Rock Creek & Boundary Fair Association is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person to join its  team on a seasonal basis starting May 5, 2025, and ending September 26th, 2025.  

The successful applicant would be responsible for helping to prepare for our fall fair including but not  limited to: reviewing vendor applications & requirements, keeping a complete vendor list & preparing  vendor package, plotting and planning vendor layout map based on requirements, stake out and mark  vendor field, assist all vendor’s needs and inquiries prior to and during fair, direct, coordinate the vendors  arrival and departure on fair weekend, after fair cleanup and wrap up. As well as assist in the office as  needed by the Fair & Facilities Manager and the Finance Manager. Must be available to assist on Work  Bee weekend September 6th & 7th as well as long hours through Fair weekend September 13th & 14th

Job Requirements: Valid BC Driver’s License preferred, criminal record check, physical stamina, computer and office skills, organized and productive, be able to work independently and together as a  team player, ability to work under pressure and deal with public, effective communication and  leadership skills.  

The job will be a minimum of 3 hours per week during May 5 to August 29th, 2025, and again during  September 16-27th after the fair. Must be willing to work a minimum of 5 hours a week from September  2-14th with extra hours during fair week and weekend. Salary will be $22.00 per hour.
