BC Wildfire News: Province Wide Campfire Prohibition starts Friday, July 12th at noon

With the increased risk of new wildfire starts from current and forecast weather conditions, a province-wide campfire prohibition will take effect at 12 p.m. (noon) PDT on Friday, July 12, 2024, with the exception of Haida Gwaii Forest District.

These prohibitions are being enacted to help prevent human-caused wildfires and to protect public safety. The process for deciding whether to implement a campfire prohibition is complex and may differ from one part of the province to another, depending on local conditions. We would like to thank everyone for being responsible with any activity that could potentially spark a new wildfire, and for their vigilance in reporting new wildfire starts, unattended campfires or open burning violations.
