AQUATIC SUPERVISOR (1 Position)

FULL-TIME (5–6 month term)

Rate of Pay: $27.00 – $30.00 per hour

Position Term & Schedule: This position is available May 4, 2026 to August 31, 2026. The successful candidate must be available to work days, mornings, evenings, weekends, statutory holidays, and split shifts as required.

The City of Greenwood is currently seeking a motivated and experienced professional to serve as our Aquatic Supervisor for the 2026 outdoor pool season. This position plays a key role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable aquatic experience for residents and visitors of all ages.

POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: AQUATIC SUPERVISOR

DEPARTMENT: Recreation & Community Services

CATEGORY: TEMPORARY POSITION

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY Reporting to the Corporate Officer (or designate), the Aquatic Supervisor oversees the operation of the City’s outdoor pool and ensures the effective delivery of lifeguard services and aquatic programs. The position supervises pool staff and assists with the marketing and promotion of aquatic programs and special events.

Minimum Qualifications • Grade 12 or equivalent • Current Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor Certification • Current National Lifeguard (Pool Option) • Current Standard First Aid, CPR C & AED • Pool Operator Certification • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check

Preferred Qualifications • Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner • Current Lifesaving Society Swim and Lifesaving Instructor/Examiner

Experience & Knowledge • Considerable (5–7 years) lifeguarding and instructing experience • Sound experience (2–4 years) supervising staff and pool facilities or similar operations • Sound knowledge of aquatic programs for all age groups • Sound knowledge of pool chemistry and pool mechanical systems • Knowledge of applicable Health Act requirements, WHMIS, and WorkSafeBC regulations • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, time-management, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills • Demonstrated leadership ability and commitment to promoting positive recreational values • Ability to plan, organize, coach, and motivate staff in a team environment • Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner • Physical ability to perform pool rescues, handle pool chemicals safely, and set up deck equipment
