Seniors Being Seen 2026

June 18 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

The ‘New Horizon’ grant activities for the “Seniors Being Seen Program” are ongoing at Riverside Centre in Rock Creek, each Thursday from 1:30 – 3 pm.  Come and join us, it’s a free activity and there is lots to learn ????

All seniors are welcome.  All programmes are about 50 minutes long (with time for questions/answers). Complimentary, catered refreshments are served after each session.

Thursday, February 5, 2026 – 1:30 pm. “What CAN WE DO About Getting Older?” Back by popular request is Diane Evdokimoff, owner of Wild Beauty, who tells us honestly that NOTHING can or will make us look 20 again. BUT – and here is why we’ve had to bring her back – Diane is the creator of a hand lotion that DOES last the whole day without repeated application. Meet a lotion that actually works; learn to ‘Be your own kind of Beautiful.’

Thursday, February 12th, 2026 – 1:30 pm. “Cybersecurity, ‘AI,’ etc Christina Wherry, from BFISS, will speak to us about protecting our information security when using computers and cell phones. She will also outline useful services. provided to Seniors by BFISS, of which we may not be aware. Please join us.

Thursday, February, 19th, 2026 – 1:30 pm. “Exercising Smart for Seniors” EMT, Spencer Condon, Boundary Community Medicine, will talk to use about how to get the most out of exercising, as “Not One Size Fits All, Fast. and Lots of Repetition” are not necessarily productive for Seniors. Mr. Condon will discuss the differences and outcomes of stretching, weight bearing, and strength training.

Thursday, February 26, 2026 – 1:30 pm. “ Planting Choices for the Boundary” Horticulturalist, Jeff Hicks will speak to us about planting choices relative to where we plant, what we plant, and changing conditions (eg., changes in temperatures, water supply, etc.,). Mr. Hicks has been working since 1983 as a commercial horticulturalist and in an advisory capacity on the BC Native Plant Advisory Committee and The North American Native Plant Advisory Committee.
