Effective 12:00 (noon) today, the BC Wildfire Service is implementing Wildfire Act prohibitions to Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) use in the following Fire Centres, with restrictions as per below (see attached maps):
- Kamloops Fire Centre – all fire zones
- Southeast Fire Centre – all fire zones
- Cariboo Fire Centre – 100 Mile House Fire Zone only
- Coastal Fire Centre – Pemberton Fire Zone, Fraser Fire Zone, and South Island Fire Zone only

“The prohibition applies to off-road vehicles as defined in the Off-Road Vehicle Act and section 2 (a) of the Off-Road Vehicle Regulation:
- all-terrain vehicles
- motorcycles
- off road side-by-side vehicles
This prohibition does not apply to private lands or national parks. It also does not apply to emergency response, agriculture or commercial / industrial users who operate off road vehicles for farming or business purposes. This prohibition will remain in place until 12:00 noon Pacific Time October 9, 2026, or until the order is rescinded. The BC Wildfire Service is continually monitoring conditions and this prohibition may be expanded or rescinded as needed. Reminder that wildfires are dynamic and conditions can change quickly. Also, as you may be aware, the province has declared a state of emergency due to the wildfire situation. I will communicate any guidance that is related to this as I receive any new information.
For site operators, I ask that you review your safety protocols and ensure you have a plan in place to evacuate your sites should an evacuation order or alert come in to affect in your area.
